My Hero Academia: Vigilantes is a spin-off story set in the same universe as My Hero Academia, based on the manga written by Hideyuki Furuhashi and illustrated by Betten Court. The story takes place before the main events of My Hero Academia and focuses on the darker, underground side of hero society.
The main character is Koichi Haimawari, a normal young man with a simple Quirk who dreams of becoming a hero. However, he is not licensed, so he cannot officially work as a hero. One day, he meets a mysterious vigilante named Knuckleduster, who fights criminals without permission. Koichi becomes involved in illegal hero activities and begins protecting people in the streets.
